Asbestos Surveys
There are three main types of asbestos surveys-
Asbestos Management Survey
Asbestos Refurbishment Survey
Asbestos Demolition Survey
Asbestos Management Survey is usually carried out to satisfy the requirements of the duty holder under the legislation "The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012" - ACOP 2012. An asbestos management survey is the standard survey. It's purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) in a building, which then might be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. Asbestos Management Surveys include minor, non intrusive discreet disturbance.
Asbestos Refurbishment or Demolition Survey is needed prior to any refurbishment or demolition work being carried out. This type of survey is used to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, all Asbestos Containing Materials where refurbishment work will take place. If the building is to be demolished, it is used to identify all ACMs including those in hard to reach areas. This survey is intrusive and involves de-construction of furnishings to gain access to all material types under the ACOP 2012 legislation.
